In 1982, Belgian actor and director Jan Decorte is invited to Holland Festival with his adaptation of two remarkable texts from Heiner Müller, titled “mauser & de hamletmachine”. It is time for political theatre to redefine itself, states Decorte, to question its forms and contents. In this excerpt Decorte is being interviewed, alternated with some brief scenes from the play.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary (2017) and the 75th anniversary of Holland Festival (2022), the festival and the VPRO have set up a sustainable online platform under the name ‘Holland Festival Gems’. Here, the audience will find short television excerpts from and about productions presented by the Holland Festival in the Netherlands over the past seven and a half decades. These television fragments from various public broadcasters such as NTR and VPRO have often been shown once on television. They have now been made available as a tribute and as an online archive.

Holland Festival is very grateful to The Netherlands Institute of Sound & Vision and NTR for this generous cooperation.
